View DetailsFood access, mental health, and wellness are deeply interconnected. When individuals or families lack access to basic needs such as nutritious food, stable housing, transportation, or financial support, it can create significant emotional and psychological stress.
Ollivier Community Circle recognizes that wellness cannot be addressed through one service alone. OCC believes true community healing requires a holistic, prevention-focused approach that integrates food access, mental wellness education, youth empowerment, physical wellness, and community connection.
OCC fits into the broader continuum of care by serving as the nonprofit and prevention-based side of the behavioral health and wellness ecosystem. While clinical providers often intervene after a diagnosis or crisis occurs, OCC’s vision focuses on strengthening protective factors within the community before individuals require higher levels of care.

Shakirra Pinnock envisions OCC as more than a nonprofit program. The organization is being developed as a long-term, community-centered ecosystem where youth, families, and underserved populations can access resources that strengthen emotional health, food security, education, confidence, physical wellness, and overall quality of life in one supportive environment.
